My name is Anastasia Krasuski, and I am honored to be the new blogger for this incredible organization, Safe Places for Women. My journey to this role has been shaped by my own experience with addiction and my deep desire to help others find their way to healing. I heard a quote once that read “one day you will tell your story of how you overcame what you went through, and it will become someone else’s survival guide.” My goal in writing this blog is to not only share my story, but the stories of the women who are finding hope, healing and restoration at Safe Places for Women. Their stories deserve to be told.
Three years ago, I was myself enveloped in darkness and struggling to find a way out. After years of struggling with alcohol abuse, I knew I needed to find a path that would lead me out of the darkness and into the light. Despite many occasions of resisting treatment and years of refusing to accept I had a problem, I made the life-changing decision to embrace sobriety. That journey was far from easy, but with the support of loved ones and a strong recovery community, I was given the chance to reclaim my life.
In my recovery, I discovered a profound passion not only for helping others who are facing similar struggles, but for doing my part in bringing attention to the stigma that so often comes along with these struggles. I realized that my experience could be a source of hope and strength for those who feel lost and alone. This passion led me to SafeSide Recovery, an amazing organization where I now work as a peer recovery coach.
In my role at SafeSide, I have the privilege of working directly with the survivors of human trafficking who have found refuge at Safe Places for Women. I offer weekly group therapy sessions where we focus on building coping skills, improving codependency and self-love and recovery from substances. These weekly sessions are a space of healing and empowerment, where survivors can learn to trust again, find their voice and begin to rebuild their lives.
My connection to this work runs deep. I understand the pain of feeling trapped in a life that no longer feels like your own. I also understand the power of finding the courage to start over. It’s an absolute honor to walk alongside these brave women as they take their first steps toward a new beginning.
Joining this organization as a blogger allows me to share the stories of the incredible women who are reclaiming their lives after enduring unimaginable hardships. I believe in the strength and resilience of every woman we serve, and I am committed to amplifying their voices that have been taken from them for so long.
I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this community, and I look forward to using my words to inspire hope, raise awareness and advocate for those who need it most.
Stay tuned!
