Reflections On One Year At Safe Places for Women

An Interview with the Owner: One Year of Safe Places!

One year ago, Safe Places for Women opened its doors with a simple but profound mission: to be a refuge of hope for women escaping the horrors of human trafficking. At the heart of this mission is Ked Frank, the President whose unwavering faith and compassion have guided the organization through its first year. Driven by a deep love for the Lord and a calling to serve, Ked has witnessed God’s hand at work in countless ways, from lives transformed to prayers answered. As we celebrate this milestone, Ked reflects on the highlights of the past year, the challenges overcome, and the incredible ways God has used Safe Places for Women to bring healing and renewal.

1. Coming up on one year of Safe Places for Women, what’s the most valuable lesson you have learned?

I have learned there are so many people in Colorado who have a passion for helping women and want to fight this evil of sex trafficking. We have a fantastic staff that works hard each day to serve the women that are in our care.

2. What’s been the most rewarding part of the last year?

The collaboration on the property between Avodah Collective, Safe Places for Women, and the Her Campaign is beautiful.  It’s rare to see three organizations working together in such proximity. We are doing something unique and modeling that organizations are more substantial when they work together. I hear donors want to see more groups working together to reduce costs and establish better practices for serving clients.

3. Is there a certain memory, or couple of memories, that stand out from the last year?

The baptisms of residents at Flatirons Church have been a highlight. Jesus Christ is our ultimate healer; seeing residents taking steps in their faith is rewarding.

4. How have you seen God move in the last year?

God made a way for Safe Places to open when it did. We have a beautiful home, staff that feel called to work at Safe Places, residents that have moved to Colorado to get help, volunteers that give of their time, and donors that feel called to contribute. It takes all of us working together to make this 24/7 ministry happen.

5. What are your goals/plans for the next year?

We need to figure out transitional living and what that will look like.  When residents complete the program and become full-time students or have jobs, where will they live, and how will they get to where they need to go?  We are still praying about those next steps for our residents.  God has provided up to this point, and I am confident that a door will open and it will be clear how we should proceed.

As we come to the year’s end, thank you to all who are involved in some capacity.  I am looking forward to a second year of watching hope come back into the eyes of residents and walking alongside them. God is good!

As Ked looks ahead to the coming year, his vision for Safe Places for Women remains rooted in faith and hope. The first year has been a testament to God’s power to heal and restore, and Ked is confident that the best is yet to come. With a growing community of supporters and a steadfast commitment to serving survivors, the organization is poised to reach even more women in need. As we step into this new chapter, we’re reminded that with God, all things are possible—and the journey of healing and hope continues.
